Advert Title: Medical Credit Controller

Area: La Lucia, Durban

Salary: R19,000 – R35,000

This position is required to work closely with the Hospitals (Case Managers), Finance department and Funders to maximize Cash-Flow over a short period and minimize the risk of non-payments or shortfall to patient accounts.

Submission of claims:

  • To liaise professionally with external/internal stakeholders such as patients, Medical Aid Schemes, and Hospital Staff.

  • Claims to be followed regularly.

  • Rejection to be attended to promptly.

  • Escalation to funders or facilities to be done where rejections occur.

  • Understanding Escalation process and turnaround time with funders and following the correct TIERS as per NHN rules.

Cash-flow forecast reporting (Projections):

  • Gathering information from Age analysis.

  • Bi-weekly reports.

  • Forecasting estimated (R)value amount that will be received on next payment run.

Receipting of payment (Payment Allocations):

  • Transactions captured via EFT (bank statement), Cash and Card.

  • Ensure allocation of payments are done promptly and correctly.

Age analysis (maintenance):

  • Ensuring accounts are paid within 30 days after submission.

  • Communicate with debtors and medical aid officials by telephone and/ or written correspondence to attempt to collect urgent payment of outstanding accounts. (As per funders preferred Platform)

  • Accurately record the collection status and relevant collection notes for each account.

  • Provide thorough, efficient, and accurate updates on medical aid payment processes to debtors.


  • Three years Credit Control experience.

  • Two years medical aid Experience in a healthcare facility.

  • Matric certificate.

  • Basic Microsoft office knowledge

  • Basic Accounting knowledge

  • Teamwork and be able to function individually.
